Ebonivor - The Christmas Faun

Description

In the years following the demise of the White Witch and the breaking of her winter spell the seasons returned to Narnia, which had been enchanted to be always winter but never Christmas. With the return of the seasons also came the return of many characters banished from the land. Father Christmas being the most powerful returned to the land first just as the Witch's power waned with the return of Aslan. Many other creatures of Narnia had to each their own Christmas spirits. The beavers had their Sinter Klaus, the centaurs had Jultid Odin , dryads had the Green Man, humans St. Nick, and of course the fauns had Ebonivor.

Ebonivor was not an old faun nor a young faun, but he encompassed the embodiment being both young and old. His physical appearance was that of a young faun having a peaceful expression, a joyful and kind heart, a gentle baritone voice, and eyes that bespoke years of wisdom. He always wore a red shirt trimmed in silver wolf fur, and always carried his birch wood bow and quiver of arrows that he used to light the Yule Log for the faun’s Christmas celebration. He also wore a crown of grape leaves and red holly berries in tribute to wine and laughter. He was never separated far from his golden, magical pipe that played the sweetest, magical music ever to be heard in the forest. He also carried his velvet sack that contained wreaths made of fir, cedar, and pine branches. The wreaths were passed out at the celebration of Christmas Yuletide and the burning of the Yule Log. Each wreath was magically blessed by Aslan and was worn on the head of each faun as they danced and sang around the Yuletide firelight. The wreaths drove away all sorrows and after the celebration were gently tacked onto the front door of most faun dwellings.

On the shortest day of the year just as the last rays of the setting sun rested their fingers gently on the forest bows Ebonivor strolled meanderingly through the forest playing his pipe and the sweetest of all music would waft gently to all creatures great and small who cocked an ear to listen. Ebonivor led on into the heart of the forest to the great meeting tree where the fauns gathered to celebrate Christmas and Yuletide cheer. The creatures in the forest who heard the music followed Ebonivor to the great meeting tree with light hearts and lifted spirits and feelings of good will and cheer sharing in the merriment and joy of the occasion. For after this the shortest of nights, the winter solstice , this year there was a promise of spring returning to Narnia. The first spring in a hundred years. Ebonivor then retold the tale of how Aslan defeated the White Witch and how the two sons of Adam and the two daughters of Eve restored balance to the world.

Wow--this is wonderful! This is my favorite from you yet and not just because I have a soft spot for Narnia or anything ;)

If you do the White Witch, I'll  you.
